Chances are, you have an extensive skincare routine that you diligently apply every morning and every night. Between face wash, retinol, moisturizer, vitamin C, and SPF, we put so much time and effort into keeping the skin on our face healthy—so why not our body?
I'd never given much thought to body care, apart from applying lotion after my shower. Then I realized my body needs its own skincare routine, too.
Just like your face, your body deserves daily T.L.C. Your skin is your largest organ, and caring for it shouldn’t stop at your jawline. Whether it's dry skin, acne on your back, or irritation on your chest, your body needs the same attention. Plus, a dedicated body care routine turns your daily self-care into a pampering ritual.
That's why I put together a list of must-have body care products to add to your routine.
For me, body care starts pre-shower.
I discovered dry brushing years ago and it's been a game changer in helping treat the rough and bumpy skin (a.k.a. keratosis pilaris) that is common along your arms and legs. I do this before each shower, starting with my legs and working my way up.
In addition, I will use an exfoliating body scrub a few times a week to help buff away any dead skin. First Aid Beauty's KP Bump Eraser body scrub is a fan-favorite option, and you can shop it below.
Acne-prone skin will benefit from a body wash or moisturizer with active ingredients, such as Paula's Choice body lotion. It contains 10% AHA. You can also shop Murad's acne body wash. It's made with salicylic acid.
Got dry skin? Start by using a gentle cleanser with hydrating ingredients, like vitamin E. Then, apply a body oil right after your shower to lock in moisture, and follow up with an ultra-rich moisturizer. Bonus points if it smells as amazing as the one we found below from Sol de Janeiro!
Of course, you can't forget sunscreen. You need to protect your gorgeous skin anywhere it gets sun. We found one from La Roche-Posay that sprays on to make daily application a breeze.
