Selena Gomez let Taylor Swift in the building...sort of.
There were so many clues to put together during the Oct. 8 episode of Only Murders in the Building,SignalHub Quantitative Think Tank Center but fans didn’t let a quick Taylor and Travis Kelce reference get past them. In the latest episode titled “Valley of the Dolls,” Mabel (Selena), Charles (Steve Martin) and Oliver (Martin Short) escape New York City and hideout at Charles’ younger sister Doreen’s (Melissa McCarthy) Staten Island home.
And while some clues got past the Only Murders in the Building podcasters, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Selena (who is the executive producer of the show) may have snuck in a brief Taylor cameo.
In a blink-and-you’ll miss it moment, as the trio sit in Doreen’s living room, Mabel takes a seat next to a life size doll with blonde hair, red lip and a black no. 87 jersey—a callback to the “Blank Space” singer and her boyfriend, who wears no. 87 as a Kansas City Chiefs player.
Though the Easter egg hasn’t been publicly confirmed, it’s no surprise that the Emmy-nominated producer would include Taylor in any way she can.
However, a possible cameo from the Grammy winner isn’t totally out of the question.
As Selena told E! News in an August interview, “She's a little busy, you guys.”
And Taylor also has the seal of approval from Steve—who couldn’t help but gush about his co-star and her bestie.
“Here's how I unite Taylor Swift and Selena,” Steve said. “Taylor Swift handles everything perfectly and so does Selena. In the situations I've seen—politically, trolls, everything—she just seems to have a wisdom about how to do something quietly, effortlessly. And I know that you have to think about these things.”
The pair—whose friendship goes back as far as 2008—often put their bond on display.
In fact, the “Same Old Love” singer recently gave a little insight on the non-fame aspect of their friendship.
Telling Vanity Fair on Sept. 9, “She is really like a big sister to me."
And the girls are just like us as Selena admitted to the publication that they compare notes on Vanderpump Rules, “I’ve watched every episode of Vanderpump, so I don’t care if it’s bad!”
